Detailed Instructions for Submitting Abstracts

Abstracts may be submitted via the Conference website only. There is no paper form to complete or mail in. Faxed and mailed submissions will not be considered. Only abstracts submitted in the correct format - MS Word for PC, as outlined below, will be considered.

To submit an abstract, authors should follow the instructions below:

  1. Download and print the “Instruction Guide”
  2. Download the MS Word abstract template and save it to disk on your computer.
  3. Type your abstract using the abstract template based on the formatting requested (see sample in the instruction guide).
  4. Have in hand the complete contact information for the Corresponding author.
  5. Abstracts (not counting author name[s], affiliation, etc.) are limited to 150 words. Please submit text only using the 12 pt font size in Arial or Helvetica on one page of 8.5” X 11” (22 X 28 cm).
  6. Do not include figures, tables, scientific equations and special characters in your abstract. Otherwise it will be returned to the author for revision.
  7. Once completed, save your MS Word for PC abstract on your computer. No other format will be accepted or retained by the system.
  8. Limit of one abstract per presenting author however he/she may also be co-author for other abstracts.
  9. Identify the corresponding author who should also be the presenting author at the Conference.
  10. All fields on the online abstract submission form must be completed. Please print a copy of the abstract submission form for your records prior to clicking the submit button.
  11. Do not resubmit your abstract for any reason other than a notified submission error. If you do not receive a confirmation email with a receipt number that your abstract was successfully uploaded, please send an e-mail to icf12-abstract@nrc-cnrc.gc.ca
  12. Submitting authors are asked to select the most appropriate session from the list of topics.
  13. Return to this page and press “Begin the Submission Process” to begin your on-line abstract submission and follow the prompts.

Confirmation of Acceptance


Once your abstract has been successfully submitted you will receive an electronic confirmation of receipt. Should you wish to make changes to your abstract, you may re-submit it as a MS Word for PC file using your personalized access key and following the procedure outlined above until July 7, 2008 - Extended Deadline.
